Visualizations of financial data extracted from the web. Economy is represented by its main agents - companies, groups and holdings, stock exchanges, banks and investment funds - and their interactions : capital relationships, geographic deployments, structuralization on market places. Beyond the current crisis, its mediatic and polictic levers, Antidatamining is a permanent monitoring device, which aims to highlight the structure of the contemporary economy, seen as a complex dynamic system.

balkan warsBoth geopolitical war games and epic strategy video games are interrelated in this multi-media project. While virtual battle scenes are celebrated for their extreme realism, contemporary warfare has begun to resemble science fiction. The reality (or virtual reality) presented by official narratives and industrial entertainment does not adequately describe the experiences of the people who are caught in the actual war games. In the real-time of global networks, and in video games, the simplification of cultures and history is itself a form of violence. The Making of Balkan Wars : The Game is intended to counteract the sensational spectacle of war presented by the media by deconstructing stereotypes, focusing on the distortion of identities, and revising the dominant logic of explanation.

facelessIn a society under the reformed ’Real-Time’ Calendar, without history nor future, everybody is faceless. A woman panics when she wakes up one day with a face. With the help of the Spectral Children she slowly finds out more about the lost power and history of the human face and begins the search for its future. FACELESS was produced under the rules of the ’Manifesto for CCTV Filmmakers’. The manifesto states, amongst other things, that additional cameras are not permitted at filming locations, as the omnipresent existing video surveillance (CCTV) is already in operation.

gapminder worldA lot of people are interested in the data, but don’t get access to it (and if they manage to access the data, they need to be advanced skilled statisticians to analyze it). Gapminder wants to make data more accessible and easier to use for instant visual analysis. We believe decision makers, politicians as well as education at almost all levels lack adequate tools.

Our work is multimedial and conceptual with main areas of inspiration being the sciences, philosophy and psychology, political and social phenomena on one side, and classical as well as contemporary art and popular culture on the other. historias gemelasHistoires Jumelles (Historias Gemelas) est conçu comme un voyage dans le temps et dans l’espace à la recherche de faits sociaux, extraordinaires, extrêmes...

kriegspielIn January 1977, the French Situationist Guy Debord founded the Society for Strategic and Historical Games. The Society had an immediate goal : to produce the "Kriegspiel," a "game of war" that Debord had already designed in his head years before. Inspired by the military theory of Carl von Clausewitz and the European campaigns of Napoleon, Debord’s game is a chess-variant played by two opposing players on a game board of 500 squares arranged in rows of 20 by 25 squares.

matadataChris (and Cristobal) Mendoza. Born in Venezuela, Chris is an artist with a passion for all things digital. His interests lie in the intersection of technology and political thought, although sometimes he’ll design a website just because he likes to code. He is versed in many things, but doesn’t call himself a master of anything. That would be ostentatious, but also nice if it were true.

net.flagIn the new millenium we see nations trying to lay claim to a new kind of territory, the Internet. This virtual territory is no longer a geographic location, a new land with resources to be claimed. It is a space created by man-made infrastructure that carries the potential of information, group identity, economic and political advantage. Nations and terrorists alike use the Internet to carry out their agendas. Those who control the structures, both hard and soft, that make this new space, control the nature of the space itself, providing or limiting access to the resources of the network.

persuasive gamesThink games are just for fun ? Think again. We design, build, and distribute electronic games for persuasion, instruction, and activism. Our games influence players to take action through gameplay. Games communicate differently than other media ; they not only deliver messages, but also simulate experiences. While often thought to be just a leisure activity, games can also become rhetorical tools.

This project continues Amnesty International’s long history of showing how one individual can make a difference. We are asking individuals, one person at a time, to own their pixel, and express their power, to end this human rights atrocity.
